Sunday 24th April, 14:00-15:30: Free improvisation workshop with Elaine Cheng
Free improvisation is about freely improvising music and sounds without the restriction of harmonies, rhythm and other common musical elements. Rather than think of how good a sound is technically, think of the sound in terms of its timbre, texture and quality of the sound in relation to other instruments.
You can bring a traditional instrument, or an object from your home that makes an interesting sound. These sessions will be led by improviser, performer and composer, Faye MacCalman, and Artist in Residence at Art27scotland, composer and sound artist, Elaine Cheng.
Participants need not be skilled in their instrument/voice/object – all are welcome.
